New to drinking cacao? Here’s the short version. +
Look for cacao made for drinking.
This selection focuses on cacao paste and cacao-based blends. Paste retains cocoa butter; cocoa powder has had some of that fat pressed out. Follow the recipe for the form you buy.
Plain does not mean sweet.
A 100% cacao ingredient list has no added sugar. If you like a sweeter cup, you can choose your own additions. A ready-sweetened hot-chocolate mix is a different buying choice.
You can start with a whisk.
You do not need to start by buying a blender. See the hand-whisk method, using the directions for your product.
Form explanation: International Cocoa Organization. If you want cocoa powder for baking or chocolate to eat, these are not interchangeable shopping lists.
Our starting selection, not a complete market survey. Summaries use official seller listings checked October 9, 2026; the seller buttons above are the sources. We have not tasted these products or verified certifications. Stock, ingredients and prices can change. Check the complete label, allergens, shipping and returns before you buy.
Why these options? They illustrate plain cacao across different makers and pack sizes, plus spice and floral combinations. A listing is not a “best” award. Botanicals are not suitable for everyone; ingredient preferences are not health advice. More makers can be added as our research grows.

What will your cup cost?
Use the seller’s price and the amount in your recipe—not just the price on the bag.
